„A világ körül, a történelmen át, a harcolók tudata úgy játszódott le, mint egy dráma az adott korban. Az idő koptatta és változtatta. Ez a „tudat” olyan volt mint egy szél által beporzott virág, és úgy alakult, hogy a Bushido felvirágzott japánban. Ahogy az ember halad az edzéssel, azonban, a Bushido olyanná válik mint egy jegy csak oda, ami lehet kegyetlen, s hibákhoz vezethet az élettel kapcsolatos ítéletekben.

A kortól(történelmi) függően, fennáll a veszélye annak is, hogy az embert elkapja egy hullám, egy roham, amivel kapcsolatban semmit sem lehet tenni. Egy ilyen helyzetben megtapasztaltam, hogy hogyan lehet igaz módon élni a Budo és Bugei kyojitsu-án keresztül.

Ha nem birtoklod a kyojitsu két útját – átformálva az irodalmit (tudományos) és harcit (bunburyodo 文武両道), harcivá és művészivé (bugeiryodo 武芸両道) – , akkor nem érheted el az igazi értelmét a gokui-nak. A két út (nido ニ道) nehéz út (nido 荷道). Tokugawa Ieyasu híres, bölcs szavai közül való ez: „Egy ember élete olyan, mint nehéz rakománnyal, egy hosszú úton utazni. Ne siess.” Ez legyen figyelmeztetés azoknak, akik vakmerően törnek előre.”

„Around the world, throughout history, the sense of those fighting played out like a drama of that particular period. It was weathered and changed by times. This “sense” was just like a wind-pollinated flower, and by chance Bushido flourished in Japan. As one continues in training, however, Bushido becomes like a one-way ticket that can be cruel and can lead to mistakes in judgment about life.

Depending on the period, there is also the danger of being swallowed by a wave, a type of surge about which nothing can be done. In this situation, I experienced how to live truthfully through the kyojitsu of Budo and Bugei.

Unless you have the kyojitsu of two ways—transforming the literary (academic) and martial (bunburyodo 文武両道) into artistic and martial (bugeiryodo 武芸両道)–you will not attain the meaning of the gokui. Two ways (nido ニ道) are a heavy road (nido 荷道). Amongst Tokugawa Ieyasu’s famous wise words were these: “The life of a person is like traveling a distant road carrying a heavy load. Do not hurry.” These words should be a warning to those who drive recklessly.”

A Jutte és a megvilágosodás…

„A Jutte katáját a tudatalattidon keresztül keltsd életre (a tudatalatti hangalakja a „harci-tudatosság” betűivel volt itt leírva > 武意識), s párosítsd ezt a dolgokkal, amiket nem hagyhatsz el… Gyakran mondják nekem, hogy a harcban a megvilágosodás a lábad előtt hever, s ez a kalasszikus japán könyvre emlékeztet, mely a „Szűk út a Belsőbe(szószerint „Beltér”)” címen ismert.

Lehetsz olyan, mint az utazó, aki száz generáció idején át bolyong; vagy tudhatod, hogy a megvilágosodás jelen van itt, ahogyan ott is. Mikor a katanával, lándzsával, naginatával vagy a karddal harcolsz, tudd, hogy vannak helyzetek melyben eltörhetnek vagy meghasadhatnak – azonban a Juttéval átélheted a megvilágosodás élményét; az életed pulzál, s teljes változáson megy keresztül. Ugyanígy van ez a bottal, hanbo-val és a za-val (bojutsu, hanbojutsu, zajutsu).

A „ju” karakter (十) egyértelműen összeadás jelre emlékeztet, egy pozitív jelre, a nyelv erejére, mely lehetővé teszi, hogy bármivé válj – a harcművészet többféle lehetőséget teremt.”

The jutte and enlightenment

„Make the kata of the Jutte come alive through the unconscious (written here as a pun for military awareness; 武意識), and couple that with things you must not miss…. I am often told that in fighting, enlightenment is at your feet, and that brings to mind the classic book of Japanese prose knnown as The Narrow Road to the Interior.

Be like a travelor who wanders for a time of one hundred generations; rather, know that enlightenment is here as well as also over there. When engaged in combat with the Katana, spear, Naginata, and the sword, know that there are times when they can be cut and broken, but you are able to be enlightened with the feeling of the Jutte, your life will pulsate and undergo a complete change. It is the same with Bojutsu, Hanbojutsu, and Zajutsu.

The character of ju (十) resembles a clear plus sign, a positive, a power of language that makes it possible to change into anything—martial arts create multiple possibilities.”
